Viewpoint was a unique arts and technology initiative designed by Blink which ran between June 04 and Oct 05. Viewpoint celebrated community life in Fenland and aimed to develop a greater sense of place, and civic pride through site-specific creativity.

Viewpoint invited 12 diverse community groups to generate a series of poems and artworks during a series of workshops. Visual artists worked with each group to make their own artwork inspired by the poems created, with some inspiring results. Over 100 poems and 50 new visual artworks were generated.

The poems were very short, (all less than 160 characters) so they could be accessed by mobile phone users for free. Audio recordings of the poetry could be enjoyed using any kind of phone. To build an evolving diary of Fen-life everyone who enjoyed the poems were encouraged to add to the archive by text or answer-phone. The best examples were added to the archive for others to enjoy.

The system was 'always on' to encourage creative activity day and night and not just during normal opening hours such as in a gallery or museum.

BOWL

I see the church, the uneven blue gravel, thick green weed, the bubbles rising, the diver and the treasure chest, the two friends down below rising to eat.
